About Our Church

Port Monmouth Community is a small fellowship that was established in 1950. The building houses the sanctuary, a fellowship hall in the back and a bathroom and kitchen in between. Our sanctuary of the church is the original structure and was built in 1892. A building this old presents many challenges when it comes to repairs and maintenance. The fellowship hall is used for church functions other than worship services and is used by AA to support those who are working to overcome alcohol and drug abuse. Over the years the church has been battered by high winds, floods and northeast storms. In 2012 is was hit with a thirteen foot storm surge that destroyed the inside of the church requiring us to relocate for six months. Because we are close to the water, the salt air takes its toll on the exterior of the building adding to maintenance issues. But our God has been good and most recently in July of 2023 we were able to replace the roof that dated back to the early 1970s. We are currently saving to replace the six windows at the back of the church including damaged wood around some of the windows.
